Last Chance for Yearbook Pre-Order

The price for this pre-order is $20.00 per yearbook. Fill out the Order From and return to your child's classroom.  Make sure to include cash or check made to “Del Cerro PTA”. Orders will not be taken after the February 11^th deadline. Yearbooks will be for sale one day during the last week of school for $25.00 and quantities are very limited.  Cash will only be accepted at that time.

Jog-a-Thon

Del Cerro's Jog-A-Thon is one of the major fundraisers for the PTA and we are asking everyone to participate. This is a great way for all Del Cerro students to get fit, have fun and raise money for our PTA which helps pay for several school activities and programs.

Who:  All Del Cerro students K-6!

When: Friday, February 25^th 2011, 8:45-2:30. Click Here for individual class running time.

How: Students will collect donations from friends and family, and then complete as many laps as possible in their allotted time period. All donations should be turned in to teachers AFTER the Jog-A-Thon no later than Friday March 11, 2011.

We need  parent volunteers and water donations so please contact Cari Vedder for more information.

Open Positions for PTA

Have you always wanted to help out in your child's school, but didn't know how? Do you know of anyone who would be a great leader for our school?   Del Cerro's PTA is looking for a few good people to fill positions of the Executive Board and PTA Chairs.  Good leadership and people willing to volunteer their time are crucial in keeping our PTA sponsored activities and fund raising alive. We welcome new faces and have opportunities for any time commitment you’re able to offer.  Remember, if you do not want to be in charge you could be on the committee!  If you have any questions or are interested in any of these positions please contact Cindy Back by February 4^th.

School Choice

Information about the 2011 School Choice timeline and  process is available on the SVUSD School Choice website www.svusd.k12.ca.us (Featured Links:  School Choice Information).   The School Choice Bulletin will be posted on the website on January 6, 2011.  The secondary applications window is January 18-February 4, 2011.  The elementary window is February 22-March 11, 2011.
Due to the California Fiscal Crisis, School Choice bulletins will not be printed and distributed to all families this year.

Principal's Message - January 2011 by Dr. Callison

We are ENERGY STARS! Del Cerro Elementary has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s prestigious Energy Star label. To earn the ENERGY STAR label, a building must score 75 or higher based on the EPA's National Energy Performance Rating System. ENERGY STAR buildings use less energy per square foot, are less expensive to operate and cause less greenhouse gas emissions than their peers. Awards include a bronze ENERGY STAR plaque,which is now displayed in the front office, and a Certificate of Achievement. In addition to this honor, the EPA recognized Saddleback Valley USD as a "Leader Top Performer" for maintaining a portfolio-wide average score of 82, placing the district in the top 20th percentile of school districts nationwide. A Message from the PTA President - January 2011

Welcome Back! Hope you had a wonderful holiday season with your families! Break time is over and it’s back to work! We had our first Family Fun Night in December and it was a lot of fun! Thanks go to Cindy Back for organizing this event. Can’t wait for the next one! Please join us for our January PTA meeting on Monday, January 10th. Marilyn Wenzel, our Hands on Science teacher will be coming to do a demonstration and give us a little insight of the kinds of fun science things she teaches our students. The PTA funds having Mrs. Wenzel so it’s a great opportunity to come and see that we’re definitely getting our money’s worth! In February we will be having the Annual Jog a Thon. We would appreciate donations of waters for the students, so if you have connections, please contact Cari Vedder by leaving a message in the front office. Volunteers to help out on the day of the event will be appreciated as well. Last chance Yearbook orders will be coming out soon. Hopefully you have already ordered yours. If
you can’t remember, make sure you check your receipt which you should have received in your child’s packet from your parent/teacher conferences. If not, please let me know and I will check your records. Happy January! Julie Fretwell-President Del Cerro PTA
